About the Campaign

The statewide suicide prevention social marketing campaign is funded by the Mental Health Service Act and is one of several contracts awarded to realize the goals and objectives of three statewide initiatives:  the Suicide Prevention Initiative, the Stigma and Discrimination Reduction Initiative and the Student Mental Health Initiative.

The campaign is funded for three years, from September 2011 through June 2014, to achieve the following goals:

  • Prevent suicide by raising awareness of suicide, its causes, warning signs and how to help others.
  • Provide individuals who are going through tough times with resources, hope and reassurance that help is available.
  • Work with the media to increase news reporting about suicide that includes information about how to prevent suicide.

Your Voice Counts provides a forum for dialogue between campaign developers and the community.  As campaign pieces are developed, we will share them here.
